Further Progress on the Fabrication and Characterization of Organic Solar Cells

For the results presented in my thesis the I-V data was recorded by hand based on measurements taken using hand-held DMMs. This method was slow and made it tedious to record more than a handful of data points. To improve upon this, a software controlled measurement and recording method was developed using LabVIEW and a USB connected data acquisition card (DAQ). Within this method two techniques for sweeping through the I-V curve were used, externally driven voltage and variable load. The externally driven voltage method uses the analog voltage output feature of the DAQ to set the voltage across the solar cell (to the best of its ability). The actual voltage across the solar cell and the current generated at that voltage are recorded using the analog voltage inputs on the DAQ. A drawing of the circuit is shown in figure 1.
